Hosted at AutoCamp Zion, our retreat blends education with the feeling of being fully immersed in the landscape. Nestled along the Virgin River and surrounded by red rock mesas, AutoCamp’s iconic custom Airstream suites offer a uniquely modern desert experience — thoughtfully designed spaces with spa-inspired interiors, private patios, fire pits, and the quiet simplicity that makes it easy to slow down and reconnect.

Gaby Escalante
Anesthesiology

Dr. Gaby Escalante (DVM, DACVAA) is a board-certified veterinary anesthesiologist with abundant experience in teaching in both academic & private practice settings, as well as research experience in various scientific journals. She completed her veterinary degree at the University of Illinois and completed a rigorous residency in anesthesia & pain management at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Her main clinical interests focus on enhancing anesthetic standards in both general & emergency practice settings, as well as integrating locoregional anesthesia into daily practice. Dr. Gaby currently provides mobile anesthesia case consultation & training services through her business MACvet (Midwest Anesthesia Consulting Veterinary Services) where she aims to make advanced anesthesia accessible to all animals – no matter the clinical setting or team’s experience with veterinary anesthesia. She has an immense love for teaching and truly believes the mindset of “teaching is learning twice”. She is always eager to share her knowledge about veterinary anesthesia with veterinary professionals and pet parents. When not focused on her sharing her love for veterinary anesthesia, Dr. Gaby enjoys spending time with her partner Jeff and her zoo of animals (dogs, budgies, pigeon, russian tortoise, and multiple freshwater aquariums). She is obsessed with any and all birds, fancy cocktails,
karaoke, and most importantly… BIRDS!
Arielle Pechette Markley
Rehab/Sports Medicine

Dr. Arielle Pechette Markley is the Director of Research at Red Sage Integrative Veterinary Partners and a board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (DACVSMR). She earned her DVM from Colorado State University, where she also became certified in veterinary acupuncture. Her early career included work in emergency medicine and general practice, during which she developed a deep interest in pain management and physical rehabilitation. She went on to earn certifications as a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner (CVPP) and a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT).
Dr. Pechette Markley later founded a sports medicine and rehabilitation practice in Indianapolis, Indiana, before joining The Ohio State University in 2018, where she helped establish and grow their Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation service. She completed her ACVSMR residency in 2022 and has since focused her academic and clinical work on advancing canine sports medicine. Her research centers on injury risk factors, sport-specific biomechanics, and performance optimization in canine athletes, particularly agility dogs. She has received grant funding to support projects on sensor development, workload quantification, and osteoarthritis. Outside of research, she enjoys running, yoga, rock climbing, and competing in agility with her Border Collie, Jax.

Everyone in the veterinary community! Our world class continuing education is targeted to veterinarians and technicians but anyone from reception to kennel techs and students are welcome to attend.
Non Vet-Med guests are absolutely welcome! There is an extra charge to include your guest on the group excursion – please email us to inquire after registration.
Zion National Park is located in southern Utah near the town of Springdale and is accessible from several major airports, including Las Vegas (approximately 2.5–3 hours by car) and Salt Lake City (about 4.5 hours). Our retreat lodging at AutoCamp Zion is just outside the park entrance, making it easy to settle in and immediately enjoy the beauty of Zion’s red rock landscape.
Registration cancellations are available up to 60 days prior to the start of the conference. $150 of the course registration is nonrefundable in the event of any cancellation. Within 60 days of the conference, refunds are not available, but you may transfer your registration to a future conference up to 30 days prior to the start of the conference. Transfers must be used on a retreat within 1 calendar year.
Within 30 days, or if you fail to attend after the start of the conference, no transfers are available and you will forfeit the registration cost.
